India has a reputation of being the IT outsourcing capital of the world. More than 95% of its entire IT industry is based on providing software development services to countries like US, UK, etc.
Despite have a solid base of software engineers, Indian companies have never really focused on creating tech products of global standards. However, there are a few really good product based tech companies in India that I want to list below.
Zoho – CRM, Accounting, Helpdesk software
ERPNext – Open-source ERP software based on Frappe framework that’s used globally
Postman – API development software developed in India and then moved to the US
Zerodha – API first, web based stock broking platform
NPCI – Unified Payment Interface (UPI) platform that is adopted globally
I have skipped tech companies like Flipkart, JustDial, Zomato, Lenskart, Paytm, Razorpay, etc. that are mainly focused on providing marketplace services and only serve Indian markets
